This Privacy Policy explains how Part Beacon handles personal information for account setup, saved searches, login emails, Parts Alert emails, security, analytics, and service improvement.
1. Information we collect
- Account details: email address, full name, phone number and country code, company name if later provided, username, hashed password, signup time, login/session metadata, and account status.
- Saved searches and alert preferences: wanted part descriptions, models, part numbers, notification cadence, and related service notes.
- Email delivery records: message IDs, delivery attempts, timestamps, unsubscribe or suppression status, and error logs.
- Usage/security data: IP address, browser/device metadata, request logs, authentication events, abuse-prevention signals, and analytics events where enabled.
2. Purposes
We use information to create and secure accounts, send magic login links, deliver requested Parts Alerts, manage saved searches, prevent abuse, improve search quality, maintain logs/proofs, troubleshoot service issues, comply with legal obligations, and understand site performance.
3. Legal basis and consent
For Canadian users, Part Beacon follows PIPEDA-style consent, reasonableness, safeguarding, access, and correction principles. For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or similar jurisdictions, processing may rely on consent, contract performance, legitimate interests such as security and service improvement, and legal obligations where applicable. You may withdraw consent for non-essential communications, but some account/security emails are necessary to operate the service.
4. Sharing and processors
Part Beacon may use service providers for hosting, email delivery, analytics, security, backup, and technical operations. Providers are expected to process information only as needed to provide services. Part Beacon does not sell personal information.
5. International transfers
Hosting, email, analytics, and operational providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions. Where GDPR-style rules apply, users should understand that data may be transferred outside their home jurisdiction subject to appropriate safeguards where required.
6. Retention
Part Beacon keeps account, saved-search, email, security, and proof records only as long as reasonably needed for service operation, compliance, dispute prevention, safety, auditability, and abuse prevention. Some logs may be retained in backup or archive systems for a limited period.
7. Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, export, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent where applicable. Some data may need to be retained for security, legal, audit, or dispute reasons. Requests should be sent through the contact route published by Part Beacon or the operator.
8. Security
Part Beacon uses practical safeguards such as HTTPS, password hashing, private storage for sensitive records, access controls, noindex rules for private areas, and operational logging. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
9. Cookies, sessions, and analytics
Part Beacon may use cookies or local storage for login sessions, theme preferences, abuse prevention, and analytics. Analytics should be configured to collect only what is useful and proportionate for site improvement.
10. Email choices
Users may unsubscribe from non-essential alert or marketing emails where provided. Transactional account/security emails may still be sent while an account remains active.
